If you have cough, fever or difficulty in breathing and you are worried that you may have contacted the virus, first and the foremost

Follow these guidelines:

  • Seek medical help
  • Do not take any medicine without consulting your doctor. Inform him about your symptoms. He may advise you to get test done based upon the symptoms. Follow the instructions given by your doctor.

  • Stay home
  • Inform at work about your medical condition immediately. People who have come in contact with you might require quarantining. This will prevent the virus from spreading.

  • Self-Isolation
  • Separate yourself from other people in your home, this is known as home isolation. Do not share your daily household items with others.

  • Wear face mask
  • Wear a facemask when you are around other people and before you enter a hospital.

  • Practice hand hygiene
  • Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds plays a very important role in preventing the spread of virus. Wash your hands thoroughly after sneezing, blowing your nose, coughing or using the bathroom, and before preparing or eating food.

  • Follow cough etiquettes
  • Use a tissue or cloth to cover your face when you cough or sneeze. Always cough or sneeze with your face away from someone nearby. You may sneeze in your upper sleeve in case tissue is not available. This prevents your hands becoming contaminated with viruses. Dispose of tissue in the dustbin and wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds.

  • Clean and disinfect
  • At home, ensure high-touched surfaces such as doors and doorknobs, cabinet handles, bathroom hardware, phones, laptopsare regularly disinfected.

  • Remember
  • If your condition worsens or you have difficulty breathing, then seek medical help.
